Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about practicing impromptu speaking here.
What is Random Topic Generator (RandomTopicGen)?
Random Topic Generator (RandomTopicGen) is a free tool for practicing impromptu speaking. Spin the reel for a random topic, question, or word, then speak about it for as long as you can — no preparation, no script, just you and the timer.
What is impromptu speaking, and why practice it?
Impromptu speaking is talking about a subject with little or no advance preparation. It's a core skill in interviews, meetings, debates, and everyday conversation. Practicing regularly builds confidence, sharpens your ability to organize thoughts on the fly, and reduces the anxiety of being put on the spot.
What's the difference between Topics, Questions, Words, and Freestyle mode?
Topics give you a subject to speak about (e.g. "the future of remote work"). Questions ask you something directly, closer to an interview format. Words drop a single word or idiom for you to build a spontaneous explanation or story around. Freestyle combines a question with words that appear mid-speech, forcing you to adapt in real time.
How do the difficulty levels work?
Easy topics are broad and familiar, Medium adds more nuance or opinion, and Hard pushes into abstract, technical, or controversial territory. Random mixes all three so you can't predict what's coming.
Is Random Topic Generator free to use?
Yes. The core practice tool — spinning for topics, questions, and words, plus the built-in timer — is completely free with no sign-up required.
Do I need to create an account?
No, you can use the tool anonymously. Creating a free account lets you save your daily practice streak across devices and unlocks Freestyle mode.
What languages are supported?
English, Arabic, Spanish, French, and German, including full right-to-left layout for Arabic.
How does the speech timer work?
Choose a duration, then speak until time runs out. You can pause, resume, or reset at any point, and the app can read your topic aloud using text-to-speech before you begin.
Do you record my speech?
No. Random Topic Generator never records or listens to your voice — speaking out loud is entirely up to you, on your own. The text-to-speech feature only reads topics to you; it doesn't capture any audio.
How can I report a bug or share feedback?
